“A Misty Morning Doesn’t Signify A Cloudy Day!”

Epic! That is the word chosen by many to describe the final Hexagonal to qualify for the 2010 World Cup. The spirit prior to yesterdays match was a bit dull. The people from Honduras had a hope which had begun decaying since the Hexagonal started with a sad loss against Costa Rica. Mexicans after having one of their best matches in a while against Costa Rica this past saturday seemed much more relaxed prior to the match. Honduras although hopeful were in my opinion too scared. But alas, nothing is over till the fat lady sings.
The match began with a high level of emotion, I being present, did not expect such level of cheering and soul coming from the fans. As a great Journalist said: “Against Mexico, we’ll play with 12!” The match began quite even, and at moments seemed a little unfair due to the amount of fouls in favor of Mexico near our scoring Area. As the match progressed, one could feel the “Garra” (Claw) of the Honduran squad against Mexicans. Costly made a great run and easily “Removed” the Mexican Defender to score an early 1-0. I am going to try to be as fair as I can but seriously, after the 1 – 0, Mexico was nowhere to be seen through out the entire match. The First half ended with a 2 – 0 lead over Mexico that was a very tricky result. They say the 2 – 0 is the trickiest of the results, most of the time a 2 – 0 never endes that way.
While we entered the second Half, I knew that this wasn’t the Honduras we have seen through out the last dates. The finishing goal by Costly was brilliant. As the match ended, honduras got stronger and stronger. Mexicans lost there heads and even had one of their played Red Carded. Even though the referee gave them a freebie goal (Penalty), Honduras, indeed, was a powerful team; perhaps the best I have seen from the CONCACAF in Years.
People claim that Mexico was disappointing. I claim Mexico was an admired rival, they just didn’t have what it took to beat a fresh, strong and Incredible Honduran Squad.
Accentuating, I end My post by congratulating all the CONCACAF teams that did win. Lets hope things keep on going well for the Honduran squad. Congratulations to Aguirre for returning to his much-loved Mexican Squad and better luck in the future matches.

historical game. What can I say. Honduras has balls. Mexico didn’t play very well and with the incredible game of Honduras, Mexico gave a very poor image of the Mexico that used to be. I was scared at the first 10 minutes. Mexico had probably 4 free kicks close to the area. Luckily yesterday was Noel’s night. The first goal from costly was supposed to be a handball and even though costly himself accepted it he said it was unintentional. The second goal, WOW just brilliant. The defender came all the way from his side to the box of Mexico just to give an incredible lob pass to pavon that finished it off with class. the third goal was an incredible steal from dani turcios and a great pass to costly who finished off Mexico with a 3-0. Then the game was getting out of hand because the Mexican players were losing their heads (typically what happens whenever they are down on the scoreboard) committing silly, dirty fouls. The inexistent penalty kick in favor of Mexico was a joke. The honduran players didn’t even touch nery, great actor. After that or before I don’t really recall, you could see the passion that pavon puts in the seleccion when coming from behind salcido and beating him in the run, finally salcido knew pavon was leaving him behind and had to commit a foul…red card, missing next game against El Salvador. Now that Sven is gone, it isn’t sure if Aguirre will head the Mexican team but its a great possibility. All in all, Honduras has demonstrated great things, they can now handle the pressure, great job from the coach and all that surround the team. Next up is another tougher battle against the U.S. at Chicago. Great match coming up.

Sometimes it seems that Honduras likes to play with pressure. The pressure was off in the final minutes of the T&T game and they scored a stupid goal on us. But anyways, this game was BRILLIANT. Beautiful game all around. Played with courage more than anything. We were faster, stronger, smarter and sometimes, even luckier. Noel cried after the game, he knew that he found redemption after that lame-ass goal in the previous game, yesterday, Noel looked world class. Loved the game, haven’t seen a better game in a long long time. If we play this way against USA we will surely take the 3 points but Honduras is so inconsistent that you never know. The ball is now in our court. TE AMO HONDURAS!

Muy Bn honduras, adelante.
