Decisive Game against El Salvador

June 10th, 2009 | By: X-ino | No Comments »

It’s now or never, we face off our last rival from the first round. It’s easy to understand; we win tonight and we continue with our great work at home plus we climb back to the 3rd spot. We lose and its all uphill from there.

Professor Rueda said on a press conference that he feels much worried than ever before. He is concerned that we have not been adding points on the road (except for a tie against TNT) but is optimistic that at home we can keep the 3 points.

On the other hand, El Savador’s manager, Mexican Carlos de los Cobos said at a press conference in San Pedro Sula that Honduras is the one obliged to win.

De los Cobos is concerned about the potential of our Honduran players but is confident that he has the strategy to neutralize the game play of Rueda’s men.

He seems more concerned of the role of the referees in game rather than Honduras because he stated that on the first couple of games they were affected by these men. Hopefully the referees wont intervene in the result of the match.

While comparing statistics of the results between these two teams, Honduras has a clear advantage. They have faced-off each other fifty times. Honduras dominates with twenty-seven victories, twelve ties, and just eleven victories for El Salvador. Therefore, Honduras has a 54% probability of winning.

An even more incredible stat is our home games against them. We have never loss against El Salvador in the sixteen matches against them. Twelve wins and 4 ties for the “Catrachos.” Our last game against this team was the 1st of February of 2009 in Honduras with a win for Honduras of 1-0 at the Uncaf Cup.

The Internationl press places Honduras as the clear favorite because of our incredible game play when in home. Fox Sports and ESPN Deportes don’t doubt that Honduras will come out with a win. Although this is true, we can’t underestimate our rivals and we’ve seen how El Salvador has increased their soccer level from past years and also they come from a motivational win against Mexico at San Salvador.

In order for Honduras to win the same, they have to jump out to the field not feeling confident, not thinking that history plays in the game (just like Mexico.) Our players have to be completely concentrated. They have to play with spirit, soul and heart. If they play this way, the three points stay home and they’ll receive a non-stop cheer from our fans.

All activity will be paralyzed in Honduras just for this match, everyone either at the stadium or watching them. I’m one of the many unfortunates that will have to cheer our lovely team through justintv…

VAMOS HONDURAS CON HUEVOS!!!!!!!!!
