Our “Legionarios” Overseas 4/20 – 4/26
Another week has gone by, and our Legionarios have seen more action on the pitch. Most of them got positive results and playing time. Constant playing time will only do good for our players, so even if there were some losses this weekend, it’s experience gained.
Wilson Palacios (Tottenham – England): Wilson played the whole match against United. It seemed as if he was going to be on the winning side but the Spurs ended up losing 5-2, thanks in part to a non-existent penalty. Wilson played his usual great style, he completely owned Carlos Tevez(it’s like a hobby of his), and when Scholes came in they had a little physical battle going on.
Maynor Figueroa (Wigan Athletic – England): Played for 78 minutes against Blackburn Rovers. Ended up losing 2-0. Wigan took the game to Rovers but in the end it’s who puts the goals in that wins and that’s precisely what happened.
Carlos Costly (Birmingham – England): No action this weekend for Costly against Preston North End. Despite being the home team, Birmingham lost 1-2 against the team for Preston. Birmingham are still in second place and everything points to them going back to the EPL.
Ramon Nunez (Puebla FC – Mexico): Nuñez played the whole game against Indios, but had a quiet performance as the visitors beat Puebla 0-2. Puebla are already save from relegation, so their main objective this year has already been accomplished.
Carlos Pavon (Necaxa – Mexico): Necaxa seemed about to take 3 important points to save them from relegation but San Luis tied in the 84th minute. No action for Pavon this weekend.
Julio Cesar “Rambo” De Leon (Parma – Italy): Rambo played for 86 minutes in their 2-0 win against Ascoli and solidified their 2nd place position. Parma look set to return to Serie A, but they can’t lose focus now because Livorno look threatening in third.
Edgard Alvarez (Pisa – Italy): Pisa tied 1-1 to Mantova in a game where Alvarez played the whole match. Pisa are in no man’s land, and will probably be playing next season in Serie B again.
Amado Guevara (Toronto FC – U.S.A.): Two games this week for Amado with Toronto. First a midweek game against Chivas USA were the only goal came from Amado. He played for 90 minutes before being subbed out. This weekend he played for 79 minutes in another win, this time against Kansas City. Toronto top the Eastern Conference with 11 points.
Walter Martinez (Alaves – Spain): No action for “El Pery” in their 1-0 win against Girona. Times are tough for their team, as they need all the points they can get to save them from going to the third division. Martinez hasn’t played due to injuries.
Victor Bernardez (Anderlecht – Belgium): Anderlecht beat Dender 4-0 this weekend. Muma was subbed in in the 59′ minute.
