Were Hanging On A Thin Thread…

Last night, Honduras played a decent match against Trinidad & Tobago. I judge so harshly by saying decent due to the fact that we played perfectly, and yet we let ourselves get tied at the closing minutes. Trinidad & Tobago played a poor match, they barely broke our defense.

Honduras arrived at Pt. Spain seeking a tie, we achieved what was necessary, but not what was possible. We had Trinidad and Tobago trailing for most of the second half, but then, at the tipping point, BOOM! Our spirits were wounded.

Enough said, Honduras has one last chance at redemption at my point of view. We face Mexico this coming Wednesday in our first Home match of the Hexagonal. History gives us very positive results for Honduras against Mexico matches (at home). Mexico has had a very hard time winning on away matches on most of its past games. except with a comfortable 2-0 win against Costa Rica last night, things become dubious for us.

They say we only turn under pressure, well pressure it is. If Honduras doesn’t beat Mexico on Wednesday, our dream to go to the World Cup might as well be faded. 3 points we can’t afford to lose.
Let me rectify that, “We will win or WIN!”

I had favored Honduras to break into the top two, but last place after two games? And they haven’t even played U.S.A. or Mexico! Hopefully things will pick up once the home games start. I don’t know if beating Mexico is really feasible: this Mexico team is more motivated than before, and even in Honduras’s last match, they only lost by a single, own-goal margin. Don’t see it happening now, but perhaps the summer will bring greater tidings…

Playing Trinidad & Tobago away and getting a draw was considered a good result before the game, but really after that match it felt like a loss. We absolutely dominated the whole game. We played to our own tempo and there really never was a moment when T&T scared us. I’ve felt this for a long time but we really need a better keeper. Noel is good, but he has these brain farts all the time that costs us goals or points, like yesterday. If we beat Mexico we can still get up to 3rd place, but that’s a big if. We’ll see what happens. Adelante Seleccion!

It’s 3 points you can’t afford to LOSE, not LOOSE. Loose is the opposite of tight.
